Job Description
Shift: variable. Assumes responsibility for attaining optimum and therapeutic patient care by: (1) providing counseling and educational services for inpatient, and/or outpatients and significant others; (2) communicating with the physician and treatment team to assist with the accomplishment of patient care; (3) supports the patient care team by performing multifunctional activities as appropriate; (4) provides information to managed care companies to assure reimbursement for services; (5) assures that services and documentation comply with hospital and ODADAS regulations. The Chemical Dependency Counselor may provide services in either the Intensive Out Patient Program or on the Inpatient Unit.
Associate Degree in Counseling/Technical Educational or closely related field. Bachelors Degree preferred. Certification as an alcoholism and/or drug abuse counselor by the Ohio Chemical Dependency Counselor's License Board. Licensure as defined by the Ohio Board of Alcohol And Drug Abuse Counselors. Independent licensure desired but not required. Three (3) years experience in individual, family and group counseling, preferably in an alcoholism/drug abuse treatment center. Knowledge of and support for an abstinence based, Twelve Step philosophical model of chemical dependency treatment.
